EECS 298-11: CAD Seminar Wednesday, October 25, 5pm 400 Cory Hall, Hughes Room Special note: Hughes Room instead of Hogan.           DESIGN TECHNOLOGY INFRASTRUCTURE AND THE INTERNET:                 Research Challenges and Opportunities                             Richard Newton                               Professor              Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences                   University of California, Berkeley While considerable effort over the past few years has been focussed on the tools and techniques used for improving the quality of microelectronic systems, the mechanisms needed to manage the tools, services, and overall design activity have remained largely unchanged. With the growing importance of integrated approaches to design, verification, and transfer to manufacturing, with the ever-present pressures of increasing design complexity and time-to-market, and with the opportunities provided by new user-interface and networking technologies (e.g. the Internet), new approaches to design technology infrastructure promise to have the most measurable impact on the overall design process.  In this presentation, a number of the most important aspects of design technology research in this area will be described and a number of specific research problems
