This is a digest of messages posted to: Common Digestive Disorders.15 year old vomiting daily15 year old vomiting dailyMessage #1: 15 year old vomiting daily Posted by: CalGal37 Date: Jan 22, 2010.Garrysgirl, what other tests has he had besides a barium swallow? When he vomits, is he bringing up food? Did the 'fast transit' time show up via transport through the stomach, or in another area of the upper digestive tract? Has the doc suggested any form of medication whatsoever? And, as strange as it sounds, has he been tested for any form of food intolerance issues? Any history of GI issues in your family?Common Digestive Disorders3 yr old w/bowel/other issuesInitial Message Posted by: DameAndChrisMommy Date: Jan 22, 2010.My son is 3 yrs old. He was completely healthy until almost a year ago when he started crouching into a ball every 15 minutes, complaining of stomach pains, and having "diarrhea". His stool is watery but also flakey, and it ALWAYS smells like moth balls. We took him to his pediatrition who did blood tests, stool tests and x-rays, which all came back normal and showed nothing. We changed his diet a couple times including not using wheat products and then cutting out dairy. All of which did nothing to help. The pediatrition then referred us to the Hershey Medical Pediatric Gastroenterologist. They have done more blood tests and an endoscopy...also coming back normal. We recently found a lump in his stomach, which the periatrition referred us to Hershey Med Pediatric Surgeon who has ordered an ultrasound and we are currently waiting to hear back from her.
She said that it could be a hernia in which his bowel is sticking through a tear in his abdominal wall, and that it probably has nothing to do with his other bowel issues (?). 2 Days ago we rushed my son to Hershey Meds ER because he had an erection for a total of 6 hours and he was in great pain. They took blood and his urine (all came back normal) and admitted him overnight. They released him the next day...with the problem still there but alot better and said come back in 4 weeks. I know this all may be unrelated, or it could be. My husband and I are just frustrated that our son has to live with all this pain and discomfort and no one can figure out what it is. We have decided that if a hernia is not present and still no one knows what is causing any of this we will forget Hershey Med and try out The Children's Hospital of Philidelphia. We are so confused and....there is no wat to put into words how we feel. Our son is sick and no one can figure out why. So I t
hought it woulde be worth a try to post it on here and see if any one has any ideas? Its heartbreaking to see him in this pain. He should be starting school soon but since he cant be potty trained, that wont be happening. We just want him better, so if any one has any ideas/advice or just words of encouragement. We would really appreciate it. Thanks so much!Bloody bowel movementBloody bowel movementMessage #1: Bloody bowel movement Posted by: CalGal37 Date: Jan 22, 2010.SJM, this could be a matter of bleeding hemorrhoids - which can produce a LOT of blood at times - but the first step is to call a primary care doc and get it checked out. The doc will probably want to do a rectal exam which isn't horrendous and possibly do a few other basic tests before considering moving on to a colonoscopy. Primay care docs can do sigmo
idoscopies to get a better idea of what's going on in the area of the anus - sometimes that's all it might take. Start with a primary care doc and see what happens. Also find out as much about your family GI issues as you can. If there's a history of inflammatory bowel issues in your family it would be a good idea to make sure the doc is aware of it.Celiac diseaseCeliac diseaseMessage #2: Celiac disease Posted by: TracyP2010 Date: Jan 22, 2010.Have you had a food allergy test??Daily nausea & vomiting, and more!Daily nausea & vomiting, and more!Message #31: Daily nausea & vomiting, and more! I have no gall bladder and am missing a large portion of my small intestine (I believe doctor told me 9-12 foot section). The problem wor

I have many of the symptoms of Celiac (bloating, excess gas, lethargy, diarrhea, etc.) but got tested (blood) and was negative. I have bad reactions to gluten which cause these symptoms and others (migraines, and aching) so I avoid eating it even though my skin test was negative for wheat allergy. I am really confused because I avoid gluten and other foods I am allergic to but still have problems. Any ideas with what else this could be would be great! Thanks!Common Digestive Disordersmorning bowel movement and alcoholInitial Message Posted by: psbeaman Date: Jan 22, 2010.Recently I have been haveing stomach problems after drinking. This is a digest of messages posted to: Digestive Disorders.Common Digestive DisordersHave Celiac... Need ideas/helpInitial Message Posted by: Ems120 Date: Jan 23, 2010.And I'm wondering if this is normal. I've only had my diagnosis since the end of October, but I seem to be eating things with gluten almost to prove to myself that I can. The end result is I feel horrible and my symptoms get worse for a few days, then I follow my GF diet for a few days but then I repeat this cycle. Any ideas how to break this cycle? I can't seem to get my head around this is a life long life_style_.How often is too often for laxativeInitial Message Posted by: lilb1190 Date: Jan 23, 2010.I have h
ad somewhat chronic constipation for years now. I go a few weeks with it and a few weeks without it. I have never been to the doctor about it (though i know i should go), and usually need the aid of a stimulant laxative to get over it. I know they are really rough on your bowels and can weaken your bowels to the point where you are dependent on them. If i had to estimate, i probably get to the point where i need one once every 1.5 months. I will go 3 or 4 days without being able to use the bathroom (though i will feel like i need to and fart a lot) and it seems like the only way out is to take some ex-lax. My diet over the course of my life has typically consisted of an unhealthy amount of processed foods, which i have recently been steering away from. I also eat foods high in fiber and take fiber suppliments. To this point, it only seems to help a little. My question is how often do i have to take them before it really starts to hurt me? Is it
possible that it already has and thats why my problems havent gone away? There are time when i need to take them two days in a row because they didnt get the job done, but i have bever had to take them 3 days in a row. Also, i would like to use stool softeners instead because they are much easier on your body, but they dont work as well. Are there any stool softeners that are known to work better than others? I've been following a GF diet now for 2 months, and it's made a world of difference in the way I feel. It's not easy at first but it gets easier, and you'll feel better. Have Celiac... Need ideas/help Posted by: sheba_q Date: Jan 23, 2010.You're in denial mode, which is pretty normal. A lot of us don't want to accept "something is wrong with me" (I have ulcerative colitis). Reality is though that you have gluten issues and you really need to quit poisoning yourself, and to help you with that I dug out the list that Trudy used to post. It's much easier to deal with a list of things you can eat, instead of a list of what you can't eat (because you know of course that you'll want to just because you've been told No). fresh fruit fresh veggies nuts and seeds (unflavored) fresh (unbreaded, unmarinated, unprocessed) meats fresh (unbreaded, unmarinated, unprocessed) poultry NOTE: read the label on poultry - many fresh ones have added weight that's got other ingredients - make sure it's either minimally processed or states added weight is only water fresh (unbreaded, unmarinated, unprocessed) seafo
od eggs milk, cheese, butter use oils or butter for cooking instead of sprays tofu (unmarinated and unseasoned) fresh potatoes (you can do just about anything you want with them - bake, roast, fry, etc) beans & legumes rice (non-enriched) buckwheat quinoa When buying hamburgers, many brands have added flavoring or breadcrumbs. It really is easy to make them so it might be easier for now to do just that. It's easy - ground beef, egg, chopped onion and Lea & Perrin (this brand is gluten free, not all are). I try to stick with McCormick's brand of seasonings because of companies adding fillers. Heinz ketchup and mustard are gluten free (so's French's mustard). Kraft has a bunch of gluten free salad dressings. Check their web site. Salad dressings that have been confirmed to be gluten free can be used as marinades. Hellman's mayo is gluten free. For soy sauce, make sure the bottle
clearly states wheat free. Real soy sauce always has wheat. If you really want pasta, the Ancient Harvest (corn and quinoa) is the best though many also like Tinkyada. Avoid the others. If you really want bread, stick with Kinnikinnick. More stores seem to be carrying it in their health food section. Ener-G is ok but only if you use it for french toast or grilled cheese. It's not all that great plain. If you really want some type of quick fix frozen meal, Amy s makes some pretty decent ones. I find them in the freezer of the health food section of my local grocery store. The absolute BEST pizza crust I've found is using a mix called Chebe. Kinnikinnick does make good GFCF crusts but they're not as good as Chebe. Chebe also makes plain dough and onion bread dough mixes. The thing I like about these mixes is that they do form a dough so I can shape them to whatever I need. I can make bagels, breadsticks, buns of any size and anything else you c
an think of that would be made from dough. I do also make buns using the Kinnikinnick Kwik Bread mix but you can't shape that. It bakes into nice dinner rolls using muffin tins and I have a tiny sauce pan that's the perfect size for hamburger buns so I do keep it on hand as well. The Kwik bread mix allows for making as big or as small of a batch as you'd like so I love being able to make a single hamburger bun if needed.
